Marek Dorcik Špercasa @ The Brink
August 13 @ 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm£10
Marek Dorcik, Slovak born, London based drummer is a classical conservatoire graduate in his home town Zilina. Originally moved to Manchester in 2006 and to London in 2013 to pursue his musical career. Marek has made appearances on well-known UK festivals including Manchester, London, Cheltenham and also famous jazz clubs such as Ronnie Scott’s, Vortex Jazz Club. Besides, UK Marek has performed extensively in Europe with a variety of projects such as the European Union Quartet, Lukas Oravec Quartet.
Marek Dorcik Špercasa was formed in 2019 as a new exciting chapter in Marek’s journey of further discovering improvised music. Carefully selected musicians were chosen that resonated with the music to enrich the sound he already had in his mind. The project and the compositions are expressing a concern for our planet and the changing climate and are composed to evoke a thought aimed at this global issue. Compositions such as About Time have an urgent feel and sound, others such as the ballad Golden Hour are warm and beautiful. The musical excellence of the immensely talented line up of well-known musicians from London’s jazz music scene is a guarantee for a night filled with musical exploring. The original music from myself and other members of the band is an excellent platform for improvisation and discovery of the band’s huge potential. The band is set out to make debut London appearances in 2020 and the launch of the debut album About Time at the Vortex jazz club in the coming months.
